We’re writing to update you on the above scheme – and to say sorry it’s taking longer than expected.
Why the delay?
We previously wrote to you to explain that sometimes our new pipes require further testing and commissioning before homes can be connected.
Having to make further checks and adjustments has been the main cause of delay to our works but it’s crucial we get things right. We’ll also be carrying out further reinstatement work to the road surface.
We’re sorry but this will delay our completion date, which is now scheduled for 30 June 2017.
What’s still to be done?
Night works will be conducted at various locations along Morton Road, including at the four-way crossing, between the hours of 8pm-midnight. This is to reduce the traffic problems experienced during day time hours.
Elements of this work can be done without temporary lights although they will be needed in some locations. Noise levels will be kept to a minimum during these times.
All side roads will be worked on during normal working hours, which will continue to be between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. However there may be days when we work outside of these hours to ensure we get the work completed as quickly as we can.
We apologise for any inconvenience these works are causing and would like to thank you in advance for your co-operation and patience as we complete these final stages.
How do I connect to the new main?
Once all our checks are complete, we will need to temporarily disconnect your water supply to put you on to the new main. We will give you at least 48 hours’ notice and the connection will take no longer than three hours.
